Proviso Math and Science Academy (PMSA) hosted its first open house on Wednesday, October 20th, for parents and students interested in admissions for the 2010-2011 school year. This event marked the beginning of the admissions season for Proviso’s premier selective enrollment institution.
“In partnership with the parents and community of Proviso Township, PMSA continues to offer a supportive and comprehensive learning environment for students with an emphasis on responsibility, math, science, and leadership,” said PMSA interim principal Dr. Clotilde Frankiewicz. “The academy also provides a comprehensive liberal arts program widely respected and accepted as a member of the National Consortium of Specialized Secondary Schools in mathematics, science, and technology. We are proud to say that students who journey through PMSA leave with a framework of academic tools and life tools that support them in analyzing and explaining real-world phenomena.”
PMSA serves the needs of academically gifted students by providing an intensified high school curriculum that focuses on mathematics, science, and technology. The school also provides a comprehensive liberal arts program including English, world languages, social studies, and other disciplines. Core subjects are heavy within the curriculum, but PMSA’s student life program also includes a growing number of clubs, opportunities for sports and music, and other co–curricular activities.
The academy will host a series of open houses from October through December 2010. Open House begins at 6:30 p.m. During this event, parents and students have an opportunity to learn more about PMSA's admissions process, programs, and curriculum. Participants will also have the chance to dialogue with the school's faculty and administrators. Mark your calendars!
