  • Students are encouraged to look at the various bulletin boards around 509 for general information as well as information about college visits and scholarship opportunities.

The counselor’s main job is to be the student’s advocate. Counselors are also the family’s main connection to get information about the school. You can call or email your student’s counselor for any questions or concerns, and they will be sure to help! We provide individual, group, and classroom counseling. Students, parents, and guardians should use their counselor as their first point of contact for information regarding the following items.

  • Academic and four-year planning
  • Study skills and organization
  • College and scholarship information and applications
  • Career resources and information
  • Community service logs and locations
  • Standardized tests: PLAN, EXPLORE, PSAT, PSAE, ACT, SAT

Ms. Paprocki, Ms. Gockly, and Ms. Paulus are available for students before and after school, and during lunch. We encourage students to make appointments during these times! Parents can call during regular school hours and email any time. Please call or email for appointments.

Homework for Absent Students

If a student will be absent for an extended period of time, please contact the counselor so she can gather work for the student. The counselors are asked to give teachers a 48 hour window for gathering such materials. If students are absent for a short period of time, we ask that the student speaks to the teachers when he/she returns to school.  Students will be given time to make up their work as long as the absence is AUTHORIZED (AUT).

Receive Important Information from the Counselors!

We invite all parents and students to sign up for our text messages! The counselors will periodically send text messages with important information regarding such things as college visits, community service opportunities, scholarship information, and more! The service is completely private. The only information the counselors see is your name. To receive text messages for your class, text the appropriate code to the phone number (702)523-0243.
