BACK TO SCHOOL NOTICE: MUST READ

The start of the new school year is fast approaching. All PTHS 209 students must have at least a 9th grade Illinois physical and up to date immunizations in order to start the 2008-2009 school year.

In November, the PTHS 209 Board of Education voted to adopt a First Day Exclusion Policy in an effort to ensure the health and safety of all PTHS 209 students and immediate compliance with state law and Illinois School Code.

Under this policy no student will be admitted on the first day of school without having their 9th grade Illinois physical and current immunizations.

"Most schools in Illinois have adopted this policy to make the parents accountable for the health and safety of their students, to ensure compliance with state law and Illinois School Policy, and to avoid the disruption of the education of students in mid-semester." said Principal Milton Patch, Proviso East High School.

In previous years students and parents had until Oct 15th to complete immunizations and back to school physicals. This had previously become an issue when the district was forced to keep students out of school mid-semester for not having completed physicals and immunizations by October 15. Now, parents and students must submit this information before the first day of school.

Thus, again, in order to ensure compliance with state policy and to avoid disruption in the school year PTHS 209 students must have a current health exam (9th grade physical) and current immunizations before being admitted to school.

Proviso East students may contact their School Based Health Center for an appointment at 708.202.9522. Proviso West Students and PMSA students may contact available all access clinics within the area.

PMSA is hosting a Health Fair on Aug 2nd at 9:00 a.m. that offers free back to school physicals. To reserve an appointment time for the Health Fair please call 708.449.4310.

Please see the start date of all PTHS 209 schools below and ensure that your student is current and up to date before school starts.

1st Day: PMSA—Thursday, August 7 @ 8:00 a.m
